How did we get our start?

Our origins are shrouded in mystery. Some accounts trace the Unemployed Philosophers Guild’s birth to Athens in the latter half of the 4th century BCE. Others argue it dates from the High Middle Ages.

More recently, historians have pinpointed the birth of the Guild to New York City in the late 90s, when two brothers turned their inner creativity and love of paying rent towards fulfilling the people’s needs for finger puppets, warm slippers, coffee cups, and cracking up at stuff.

If you’re unemployed, how come you have a job?

We are employed, just not as philosophers.

The Pulp Tarot gives the traditional Tarot card deck a new twist – with a cast of characters captures from the glorious repository of pulp illustration.
