All Intelligent Tentacle

Key Notes: Trust the knowing of your body. Contemplate the particular intelligence of all things. Pretend you know nothing, and notice how that expands your curiosity and your perception.

Symbology: Octopi and their relatives in the cephalopod class are extremely intelligent but do not have a central nervous system. Imagine if your hand could make complex assessments and decisions without first checking in with your brain. That’s how the tentacle of the octopus operates. It has its own smarts and its own curiosity.

Guidance: Get out of your head, and check in with the wisdom of your body. Trust your curiosity, and open your mind to a process of exploration that will ultimately lead to insight and creative breakthrough.

In the Land of the Vanished

Key Notes: Re-inspiration and reignition: transforming ultimate loss into the unfathomable power of gods. Breaking a cycle once and for all.

Symbology: Extinction is a sad fact. Many plants and animals that once were are no more. Some people believe that no species ever go extinct—that instead they go into hiding. Maybe this is true. Or maybe extinct beings go to a vast space of infinite possibility and power—the realm of gods and stars.

Guidance: It’s time to step off the treadmill. This archetype takes us into endings that are beyond cycles of death and rebirth. Rather than repeatedly burning and rising like the phoenix, this archetype indicates an ending that culminates in ultimate transcendence.

The Coiled Snake

Key Notes: Consider whether your current situation calls for you to unfurl your full power, or whether this is a time to conserve your energy and reserve your strength for another time.

Symbology: One of the key attributes of snakes is their length. Their lengthiness is useful in giving them power and agility, but it can also be a vulnerability. Snakes coil as a form of self-protection. Coiling keeps their head close to the rest of their long body, so they can fight back easily if another animal tries to grab or attack them.

Guidance: There are times when you benefit from being expansive and open, and there are times when it’s better to keep your energy close.
