In ancient Egypt, Horus was one of the oldest gods from the pre-dynastic to the Greco-Roman periods. Horus was the son of Osiris and Isis although he was also said to be the son of Hathor. In early upper Egypt the pharaoh was considered to be the manifestation of Horus in life and the manifestation of Osiris in death. Horus was often depicted with the head of a falcon and was the god of the sky. He was also a god of war. This statue is adorned with the headdress of the pharaoh, head of the falcon, and the spear of the conqueror at war.
